The Role
Own reconciliation of payment transactions across processors, banks and internal ledgers for a high-volume consumer business. The role protects the accuracy and integrity of payment data and keeps the monthly close on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Run daily and weekly reconciliation of payment transactions across processors, banks and internal systems.
- Identify, investigate and resolve discrepancies, duplicate transactions and unmatched entries.
- Track and reconcile processing and payment fees against agreed rates and contracts.
- Confirm that funds received match expected settlements in the bank account.
- Monitor transaction-volume trends and flag opportunities to reach better pricing tiers with processors.
- Work with Finance, Support and Engineering to find the root cause of recurring reconciliation issues.
- Maintain accurate records of reconciliation activity and exceptions; escalate unresolved or high-value discrepancies per procedure.
- Support month-end close by making sure all payment accounts are fully reconciled.
- Identify process gaps and recommend improvements that reduce manual work.
- Support audits with documentation and explanations for reconciliation items.
Requirements
- CPA with 2–4 years in reconciliation, payment operations, accounting or a related field.
- Strong Excel/spreadsheet skills and comfort with large transaction datasets.
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently and manage competing priorities to deadline.
- Clear written communication for documenting findings and coordinating across teams.
